European and French health authorities have warned against injector pens falsely labeled as Ozempic, a diabetes medication used for weight loss.
These fake pens were identified at distributors in Germany, Austria and the United Kingdom. Inactive serial numbers triggered the alert, but no falsified pens were issued to patients according to the European Medicines Agency.
The National Medicines Safety Agency (ANSM) called for vigilance and reiterated the need to verify the traceability of the serial number. No alert has been reported in France, but an investigation is underway.
