The 60 million consumers association has scrutinized several brands of condoms and the findings are clear: the resistance of several models is mediocre, which, of course, is not without consequences: unwanted pregnancy or transmission of diseases ; condoms should be subject to stricter controls.
Several models tested broke
Concretely, out of 18 models available for sale, 4 cracked while undergoing a burst test. However, all these models have their CE marking. The most worrying thing is that for the same brand, there are large differences in quality between models, which means that the buyer can feel protected with their usual brand and not be protected at all in reality. This is for example the case of Manix. The association's tests reveal that the Manix Super are resistant while the Manix Contact are not... This study of 60 million consumers reinforces the already negative findings of the Fraud Repression, which observed that 50% of condoms sold in France did not comply with regulations.
The good students in the ranking
Among the best rated, we find the Durex Natural sensation condoms (latex-free), Protex condoms Classic natural and Ceylor Blauband… the last two references are not particularly well known.
Precautions to take with condoms
Condom tearing is not just the result of unreliable manufacturing. Care should be taken not to use expired condoms or condoms stored in poor conditions and to remove them from their packaging carefully. Finally, last recommendation, do not put two condoms on top of each other to ensure more protection, this risks being counterproductive by increasing the possibility of transmitting an infection. If the condom breaks during sexual intercourse, it is better to consult a health professional within 48 hours for emergency preventive treatment.
